Volunteer Appreciation Month Blog Post # 2: by board member Ally Haug

This is the second in a series of blog posts highlighting the work done by our volunteers. This week’s blog post was written by board member Ally Haug of Vancouver, British Columbia. We asked Ally why she got involved with Asante Africa Foundation. Here’s her answer:

Allyson Haug

I joined Asante Africa for three reasons:

1. Accountability – they show great accountability to donors and program partners. We can speak with confidence and accuracy to exactly what we have accomplished; this demonstrates the type of sincere commitment to donors and education I believe in.

2. Execution – with very little funding, Asante teams get things off the ground, and completed in a very short time frame. Not many non-profits can say this with conviction.

3. Fun – working with the Board and volunteers is fun. I feel very rewarded by the good work we are able to accomplish and with the tremendous impact we have had, but I also really enjoy the culture of the Asante board and team. I have stayed with Asante for six years because of our continuing momentum and because we keep expanding the realm of what is possible – I want be a part of that!
