Our annual Fall Event was a truly successful and memorable experience.
Highlights of the evening included the presentation of two awards: The Power of Me award was given to two student scholars in country: Lepilali Ngoilenya from Tanzania and Koileken Kiok of Kenya.
Lepilali Ngoilenya, Tanzania – After several years of struggling to complete primary school because his family couldn’t afford the fees, Lepilali was finally awarded an Asante Africa Foundation Scholarship, allowing him to finish Secondary School, at the top of his class. While waiting to hear about acceptance into university, he attended the Leadership Incubator and now teaches leadership skills to other students and teachers.
Koileken Kiok, Kenya – Koileken is the first in his village of 500 to graduate from
high school. He is also an alumnus of the Leadership Incubator. He has been
awarded an academic University scholarship and is currently studying medicine
at the University of Nairobi .
The Power of We recognition was awarded to Crosswinds Church of Dublin, Ca, who has been a dedicated supporter of Asante Africa Foundation since its inception in 2006 and actively supports projects in their “Beyond the Walls” campaign. Their determination to make a global difference has resulted in meeting basic and fundamental needs for students at two primary schools in Kenya, and one primary school in Tanzania.
The evening was not complete without a vibrant performance by Chinyakare, a group who strives to weave creative expression, education and community involvement through African music and dance.
