Learning From One Another: High School Students Meet to Share Their Experiences

Lake Manyara HS students and Matt Suski

As we continued out journey, we ( Matt and adults) definitely enjoyed the deeper conversations to be had with the high school students from Lake Manyara High school that are in the Asante Africa Foundation Scholarship program.

We discussed a bit about the current Ramadan Holidays because 2 of the students were fasting. We discussed how hard it is to get a job in the USA, so education is critical there too. We discussed how many subjects each student had to fit into the day. and then of course the more fun stuff like sports, music, gospel, and safaris.

One of the surprising pieces of information is how few of these local students have ever even seen the wild animals themselves – that reside practically in their own back yard (Often because it requires money and a vehicle to ride in).

Everyday is a new learning experience.

Acting crazy in photos is not readily accepted and we had to work hard to get everyone to play along
