ASANTE AFRICA FOUNDATION TO HOLD 2ND ANNUAL FALL FUNDRAISER AT CATHEDRAL EVENT CENTER IN OAKLAND
Event celebrates accomplishments of students and teachers benefiting from
Asante Africa’s educational initiatives in Tanzania and Kenya
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OAKLAND, CA August 2, 2010—As evidence of its continued growth as an organization, Asante Africa Foundation today announced that it would be holding its 2nd annual Fall Event fundraiser to support its work of providing educational resources to teachers and students in East Africa. The event is a follow-up to last year’s highly successful fall fundraiser that sold out several weeks in advance and raised a record amount of funds for Asante Africa’s educational programs in Kenya and Tanzania. This year’s event is expected to be twice as large with anticipation of over 200 guests in attendance. The Fall Event will take place on November 6, 2010 at the Cathedral Event Center located at 2121 Harrison Street, Oakland, CA 94612.
The 2010 Fall Event is entitled “Sunrise Over Mount Kilimanjaro—New Beginnings on the Horizon,” and organizers expect to make the event a celebration of the success stories and new opportunities for students and teachers benefiting from Asante Africa Foundation’s multi-tiered educational initiatives. The celebration will feature East African music and dance, authentic African cuisine, stories and videos from around the region, and a live and silent auction. Tickets for the event are $75 per person. A limited number of discounted seats are available for media representatives to attend the event.
The event marks Asante Africa Foundation’s 4th year as a non-profit charitable giving organization. The organization was founded in 2006 as a way to promote self-sustainable development efforts in East Africa by empowering families and children living in Kenyan and Tanzanian villages with the resources they need to experience a quality education. Greater than 90% of donations to Asante Africa Foundation support in-country programs and projects which are jointly planned with local program managers.
“The annual Fall Event enables us to bring together many of Asante Africa Foundation’s stakeholders and supporters to witness the progress we have made and to celebrate the global community we are becoming,” said Erna Grasz, Founder and CEO of Asante Africa Foundation. “We look forward this year to a stunning location, authentic and festive celebrations, and the opportunity to gather a community of people who believe that educated children are the future bearers of positive social change around the world.”
